August Update for RTB Members

August 11, 2022

Dear Restore The Balance (RTB) Members,

Thanks to all of you who have coalesced to support RTB’s goal to eradicate extremism from politics in our community and Congressional District. We've accomplished a great deal since February 2022, and there is much more left to do. With the general election fast approaching, we hope you will continue to support our grass-root efforts.

Here is a brief update on where we are now, and where we hope to go for the rest of the year.

Since February, we have:

Created a 501(c) 4 non-profit organization that is a voice to champion moderation in politics

today for conservatives, liberals and moderates who are opposed to political extremists from

both the left and the right to pursue and effectuate change in public policy.

Published an op-ed in the Daily Sentinel, followed by variations of the original which appeared in the Montrose Daily Press, The Idaho Statesman, The Santa Fe New Mexican, The Las Vegas Sun, The Moab Times Independent, and The Vail Daily. More than 500 supporters signed the pledge that appeared in the Daily Sentinel advertorial, and more than 700 people supported the pledge in that appeared in a subsequent Daily Sentinel advertorial.

We then brought those supporters together in our first general membership meeting held in May 2022.

Educated the public about extremism through our website, advertorials, paid advertising on

billboards and in newspapers, radio, social media and word-of-mouth.

As a result of our efforts, more than 2,300 individuals have endorsed our pledge and 100 volunteers have signed up to serve on five active committees.

We will continue to promote the seven principles aimed at restoring balance to politics in western Colorado and point out the dangers posed by extremists to our democracy and way of life. We will engage in the general election races by preparing and distributing a candidate “report card” making recommendations on which candidates voters may want to support or avoid. We will do voter outreach to inform and encourage disengaged voters to participate in the election. We will lobby citizens and officials and conduct special events aimed at furthering the goal of rejecting extremism.

With the general election fast approaching we ask for your continued support. Donate if you can, volunteer if you can, spread the word about RTB and follow us on the web ( restorethebalance.org ), or at Face Book ( www.facebook.restorethebalancecolorado ) and/or Twitter (@rtbcolo).

Most importantly, talk to your friends and neighbors about rejecting extremism and support the candidates -regardless of party- that will best serve the public interest over those of hyper-partisan extremism. Lastly, don’t forget to vote.

Thank you for your continued support.
