Hope, Resistance, and 3,000 Voices: No Kings Day Reflections

Many of you joined us at the No Kings Day protest at Canyon View Park on Saturday, June 14, and your presence mattered!


The protest drew an estimated 3,000 people, a remarkable turnout for our community, especially given our area’s traditionally conservative leanings. Organized by Indivisible Grand Junction and aligned with nationwide demonstrations in response to a Trump-planned military parade in Washington, D.C., our local protest was a powerful statement of unity and dissent. Only about 600 people had registered, but organizers noted that attendance was roughly four times that number, indicating just how many felt compelled to attend.

While local media, including the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, covered the event, some attendees felt that the reporting overstated the role of counterprotesters and missed the depth of concern and the hope that defined the day.

The energy from the No Kings Day protest made it clear: our community is ready to stand up, speak out, and drive change. But one event isn’t enough. Change happens when we stay informed, keep showing up, and hold our leaders accountable—day by day, call by call, vote by vote.


RTB will continue to share updates, especially as school board elections approach this fall. In the meantime, stay engaged, stay vocal, and don’t underestimate the power of your voice. We’re in this together.
