Mike Hansen — Orchard City Trustee Candidate
1. What qualifications and experience do you have that can give voters confidence that you could be an effective member of the town council and meet the challenges of the office? I grew up in this area, graduated from Cedaredge High School in 1979, and have watched the area change in many ways over the years. I decided to become involved with the direction Orchard City was going by being a member of the planning committee, which I enjoyed, and then I was asked to run for the trustee position.
2a. Briefly describe one to three issues that you feel are important for your community. Growth and water, Orchard City and the western slope have become a destination for many people wishing for a quieter, peaceful life, putting a challenge on our resources. Water has been a major issue as our current water lines age and need to be replaced.
2b. What one to three issues are important to your neighbors and your community that you, as a council member, can address together with Town Staff and citizens? Water supply and rates, road infrastructure, and preserving the rural feeling of Orchard City.

3. Do the EIGHT RTB principles go along with your views on how a town council can make good decisions? Yes, I believe that these eight principles are sound statements.
4. If you are elected to the town council, how do you plan to gather information and get your constituents' points of view to inform your decision-making? I would encourage constituents to attend town meetings to voice their concerns and seek out other council members and me to discuss issues that are important to the town and the surrounding area. Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts and views with you.
